Hi Margaret- YES- back to work in early August. We ended early this year, in late May. I must have forgotten your subject area. I do know that you are a college teacher. Is it English?

Morning Julia, rest of the family. . .

Insurance companies are a maze of the worst kind. . .  seems like they are trained to say no the first time to everything. . .  many years back I was in an accident and my doctor sent me for an MRI and other things, well over 10 years later, I get a letter in the mail from some bill collector saying I owe over $4,000 from an MRI done i***** . . seems the insurance company denied them payment and the first I was hearing of it was this bill collection service, which the original amount of the bill was for $964.  I called them and told them, well seeing as this is the first I've heard of it and the case has been settled since 1997, I think you are out of luck, especially considering and I can prove that you had ample time to find me long before you did. . .

As for me and boring, it would seem my life is that, though I am constantly doing something, it's nothing as compared to what I'd like to do. . .

Well back to work for me, hope you all are doing fine today and wishing peace and strength to those in need.

Hugs, Laureen

Aloha Julia and OFF friends......

I'm sorry to have MIA for so long. It isn't that I don't care, because I do. I read every day, and then seem to have somewhere to be or something to do that pulls me away.

The word "boring" popped out like a cartoon...Ha. My life is not boring exactly, but it is sometimes a little too crazy for a supposedly retired person.

My job at the hospital testing newborn's hearing has become VERY complicated. Our old equipment was discontinued, so we are using a temporary system to test babies while waiting six to eight weeks for new one to arrive. This one we are using is BARBARIC. We have to put three sticky probes on baby, back of neck, shoulder and forehead. THEN we put these sticky ear muffs on that ususally sticks to hair (local babies have lots of hair!(. By that time the baby is wailing (who wouldn't) and they have to be absolutely still for this test to work. We are now spending 45 to an hour per baby, where we used to usually test them in 5 to 15 minutes! Sigh. I'm on call so I never know when I'm going to be called in.

Having said all of that, I am thankful, very thankful, to have a job. It is very expensive on Maui.....gasoline is $4.00 a gallon...it never went down when the oil prices went from $145 a barrell to $65!! I wonder who is getting the profit...uh huh.

I'm envious of all of you canning your fresh food. How wonderful for wintertime meals. I love the local farmers' markets here where I get veggies, fruit and glorious tropical flowers.

It is so nice spending a bit of time with all of you each day. I hope all of your lives get better every day.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Good morning Julia and everyone....

Glad to see a few more posting today!!

As for me ...boring here too. I still have my granddaughter Kyleigh (18) with me. We went down to Minneapolis yesterday to find her housing. I think we found a great place for her. She may be moving there on the weekend.

I love having Kyleigh here but I just don't have the room. She wants to live in Minneapolis because all her friends are there.
Hope it all works out.

Have a great day everyone.....prayers for all in need!!

Hugs and love to all.....connie d

My life is boring too!!!!! But i did have some fun time over the weekend. I met Mary Margaret and her daughter in Ft Myers on my way to Ft Lauderdale. We had another family wedding. I got home yesterday and had to promply go to bed so I could work the overnight shift. I am up now and have to start getting ready to do the evening shift.
The wedding was beautiful and was at the Weston Hotel in Ft Lauderdale. The food was a bit to be desired. Some herbed baked chicken that had a some kind of red pepper sauce on it. To spicey. Steamed veggies that tasted bitter and some kind of over cooked rice that looked like glue!!!!! The cake was to sweet but looked amazing.
So sadly saying I didnt eat to much of it. It probably was 50.00 a plate!!!!!
I am flying to Chicago either on Augest 10th to drive carl home finally after 4 months of him being in Chicago.
My right arm is killing me. I think I tore the rotator cuff. Can only move it in a certain way.
Going to get a cortisone shot tomorrow.....

Hi Julia and my OFF family:

I'm glad to see so many face this morning/afternoon (for some of  you). I'm not doing much of anything today, unless you count laundry and unpacking. I was unpacking yesterday and scrapped my left and arm something awful ... blood was pouring out of the cut on my middle finger and the big blood spot on my arm. I thought about going to the pool today but don't really want to put my scrapped-up body in a chlorinated pool ... ouch!

So I'm going to hang around the house, run to the grocery store for cheese and make burgers later ... just in the mood for burgers, so I bought some ground beef yesterday but forgot the cheese. Found these whole-grain thin rounds, so I can actually have like a "bun" for the burger without a lot of bread.

George, glad your Rangers could beat the Tigers yesterday; my White Sox bounced back and beat the Mariners and the Indians beat the Twins, so the Sox are now 2 1/2 games up in the AL Central. So all is right in the world.

Well, that's all from Louisiana. It's hot, it's humid ... it's always hot and humid. Stay cool, y'all.
